This Leisure Arts 32 pages booklet remindes me the days when I taught my simple crochet edgings to my father’s causin sister. She was masculin girl used to behave like males, and it was very difficult to teach her crocheting. She tried to do crochet edgins on her chunnies for dowery, like other girls of her age. It was costmary to decorate chunnies with gota, crochet edgins and embroidery in Haryana state. Any how I made her learn, and she made edgings on 50-60 of her chunnies.
The edgins used that time were simple with three chains after joining yarn on one edge of the chunni three trebles on first chain chain one and slipstitch at a little distance of the joining place.
The edgings/borders in this booklet are so adorable that can be used on chunnies now, these days edgings on chunnies are in fashion in urban areas among fashionable crowed.
The designs are very nice from simple to complex, from nostalgic to contempory. In the coming posts I will present my own edgings done on my daughter’s chunni and I will surely try one of Jean Leinhauser’s from the booklet.
