See the How of the curtains.....
Well, now our neibours (2) back door on first floor can feel free to look up without embarrassment as they walk along there balcony. We have curtains that really cover up the kitchen-cum-dinning (a big relief!). Me and my daughter with my friend went to Panipat handloom together, they had a big sale on. My friend’s mother sewed a lot and she is well versed in both fabric stores and purchases, so we needed her along. We got 8 meters each of these decorating fabrics for Rs 120 per mete , which seemed

like a good deal when compared to finding pre-made curtains to fit these sliding doors. (If this was a terrible deal, I'm not sure I want to know right now!) The sliding doors needed a sheer that would match the rest of the room and allow in light. We found this light cream net fabric that I loved. I used the curtain rod that were already mounted in the wall...and each curtain only took about 4 or 5 sewing machine seams, very fast to make once I figured out which boxes to open for sewing supplies and did all the math and measurements. I love how the sliding door’s iron wire net look underneath the sheers--it looks a lot like the sliding are wearing expensive, knitted lingerie!

The hall curtains were a bit more challenging. These hang on a small landing in between the kitchen dinning area and rest of the rooms of the house. Unfortunately, if our bedroom door is open (which it usually is), you can see 1st stories of the back two houses from bed! In front the street, which is busy, includes a park with lots of greenery and lots of children…people… Obviously, curtains were in order.

You can see no hooks required and my visit to hardware… that I economize for that ….
Forgot about the ready made curtains seen in yellow and orange. I bought from Delhi…..
Sorry …on a visit to vikaspuri market in delhi I was in hurry! And the curtains were for demo in a shop I felt in love with them … I'd never seen these kinds of curtains before, they looks great there. I hurriedly stepped into the shop asked for their visiting card and retuned for my trip to hisar…my home town 250 miles away from the Delhi, capital of India.
After 4-5 days my son with his friend purchased them on their trip to Delhi. And they were- in, in my house…

These do limit the daylight in the part of the other rooms, but even the curtains were courser like the double thickness of khadi, the morning sun and the traffic lights still shine through a little at night. It's a compromise, but I think it's an ok one. The curtains, in both cases, look clean and new but like they were always here, and that's a great thing in an old but renovated house, in my opinion!
