Story that tells the fate of our WIND CHIME!

I’v always loved the soothing sound of a wind chime blowing in the breeze. I especially liked the one my daughter bought some 9 years ago when we renovated our house.I hanged it at our passage that connects our island kitchen cum dinning to the rest of the rooms. I really appreciate the sweet sounds and the delicate aesthetic of this most musical decorations. When there was not any wind to activate the chime, then I physically make it to move to feel its beautiful sound.

the above Wind Chime is not the original one but wrecked one ( sorry that I didn't have the photos of it's new version)

Wind chimes are considered as a source of good positive vibes.

Wind chime got their start in India during the second-century B.C. as vessels used to ward off evil spirits and pesky birds(the latter a tradition continued today with tin plates and plastic owl decoys).these “wind bells” later found their way to China’s temples, palaces, and homes. Their expansion through Asia brought with them a promise of good luck. And let’s not forget their purpose in the States…

“Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings”

There's an old wave’s tale that suggests hanging wind chimes in a doorway to ward off evil spirits or negative energy. Though ours is not at the doorway, instead it near back-doorway. If you're familiar with the concept and practice of feng shui, you probably already know that perfectly tuned wind chimes have a reputation for encouraging the flow of positive energy by blocking (or at least neutralizing) un-peaceful or unnatural sounds (cars, neighborhood children, fireworks, etc.) that can be disruptive and distracting to your relaxation. Whether or not you buy into the concept of feng shui, I still think they are a peaceful and calming item to have around your home. And look at all the options!
at that time i was so obsessed with the Birdies that i took several photos of them

A Quick Renovation

The first time the chimes fell apart, I quickly put them back together with invisible thread. But being at passage finally took its toll and cord used to string the tubes and wooden birdies and the other ringers simply rotted. Several tubes and other things disappeared when being hit for this way and that way. I asked the shop from where my daughter bought it years back. So I asked in the Green Park’s Dove House if they could repair my wind chime…the ‘SPARROW MODEL”. The woman I spoke to said they hadn’t made that model in years, but she offered to send me some durable cord so I could try my hand restringing it. Ii got the string and placed it with the broken wind chime and forgot for sometime about the

Chime’s whereabouts……………………………………………….

It was some days back, while I was doing some pending work, somehow I opened the basket I bought from Dilli Haat and found Birdies that I crocheted inspired by the Birdie pattern on the lovely Attic 24 …. and red used my yarn stash, to some extent.

see the pictures (above) of new wind chime from different angles

See the picture at left ….accumulation of dirt on the plastic sheet at roof pierced rectangle extrusion

Then I assembled all the broken pieces of the wind chime the string I got from the shop related to the original chime, all the birdies I crocheted.

It was relatively quick project to put it all back that together (remained in my possession after the distraction to the poor chime) along with the birdies….. And I like the look of the brighter coloured birdies.

The only drawback is the new renovated Wind Chime is not wind- activated now. The tunes are there but due to weight of the birdies it rings only when purposefully activated to hear the music created by the tubes.

My renovated wind chime now hangs at its previous place again, ready to play its music for anyone sitting nearby for no one at all.

is the title ok?!

happy day!
