hand made baskets ....

last month i visited Kaithal city for a programme of NGO sirjan ...there was exhibition-cum-sale on that spot ...we bought the basket pictured underneath...this is a big basket made by rural village women....when asked the lady at shop detailed about the make of it and its significance or for what it meant.....

this basket is usually made in each and every home with daughters..or girls.........as this is a must.....present as dowry for daughters ...it is yarn wrapped on grass named ....(sorry i forgot the name..i will found out later on and will post in the future) the name of the basket is dull or changer ..i love baskets.....

i love the arrangement of coiled bars in descending and ascending order!!!

see the pic above lid over basket ..its a big basket to store stuff like yarn........... needles.........they people use these baskets stacked with sweets to distribute sweets in marriages...

see the close-up ...how cute!!!the colour combo is great!!!!
this is the lid

when the basket was placed over the table the night we bought it in.......my niece......placed it in the niche there....

A thing worth-display!!!

Display in my niche……how cute In the display above, the rainbow colours are a link as is the predominance of colourful yarn ,and the vase filler stones ( the yarn wrapped bottle). The other unexpected touch is the White Stone Buddha Statue in Meditation is made from white sandstone,7 inches tall, I enjoy the serenity here. The jextoposition of Buddhisim and yarn is interesting here..one of mu fav!!!!!! i love it!!!!!!!
